Welcome back to SOTW. Thanks for checking back!

This week features a song by Doves.

Doves “Catch the Sun” [MP3] (9.52 MB)
from the 2000 album "Lost Souls "

When I first heard this song, I immediately fell in love with it. I never got too into the band until now, and I’m glad I finally did. Years later, this song still gives me the chills when I hear it.

Song Lyrics for “Catch the Sun”

Every day it comes to this
Catch the things you might have missed
You say, get back to yesterday
I ain't ever going back
Back to the place that I can't stand
But I miss the way you lie
I'm always misunderstood
Pulled apart and ripped in two
But I miss the way you lie

Catch the sun, before it's gone
Here it comes, up in smoke and gone
Catch the sun, it never comes
Cry in the sand, lost in the fire

I never really understood
Why I didn't feel so good
But I miss the way you lie
I've always been up and down
Never wanted to hit the ground
But I miss the way you lie

Catch the sun, before it's gone
Here it comes, up in smoke and gone
Catch the sun, it never comes
Cry in the sand, lost in the fire

Week 5: February 19, 2006

The Ren: A gorgeous girl who really knows her music! Glassjaw, Radiohead, Sigur Ros, and many more to come every week.

Welcome back to the fifth edition of SOTW. Thanks for checking back!

This week features a song by Glassjaw.

Glassjaw - Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Silence

Glassjaw “ Motel of the White Locust ” [MP3] (11.8 MB)
off their debut album entitled “Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Silence”

I can’t go into too much of a description of this band, but I will say that this is not music for everyone. They are an amazing live band that’s basically no longer together but have a few side projects, one being Head Automatica (which to me are not good) but I definitely respect anything that lead singer Daryl Palumbo is a part of.

Song Lyrics for “ Motel of the White Locust ”

Welcome to Hollywood Girl
My dance has passed.

Welcome to Hollywood girl.
Wake the fuck up in Hollywood whore.
Combine the throbbin' in my head
with the rhythm of my fucking feet.
Say a novena for all those lost
and read the bloodstains on the sheets.
I've whored myself for less than this
and I've prayed to appear too fed.
As I knelt on my pillow God,
I clenched the fucking fists and banged my head. Glassjaw

Who could ever…
Who the fuck could ever...
Take the place of me? [x2]

Now I kiss up to God my fists
and I pray to keep my head
though I like your pretty eyes better blackened
and my fists all fucking red.
Through sickness and health,
I've kissed up to God two years, I have focused...
On the cameos made by the tiger in the valley of the fucking locust.

Who could ever...
Who the fuck could ever...
Take the place of me?
Who could ever...
Who the fuck could ever...
No one can the place of me?

Wipe...
Wipe off your mouth.
Get up off your knees and make me your god.
Who could ever,
who the fuck could ever?
It's sexual debauchery you fucking cunt, you fucking whore,
you cost what you're worth.

Followed by a boy like this,
Reignited by all your visits.
As long as your mouth is shut you'll still be fuckin beautiful.

Pack your shit and leave, and take my memories of her with you.
(I don't need to know)
[x10]
...And take her fucking with you

Week 4: February 12, 2006

The Ren: She Loves Dave Navarro! Check out his website! www.spreadradiolive.com

Thanks again for checking out the NEW song of the week! Every Sunday, a new song is posted. Be sure to check back!

This week features a song by Sigur Rós.

Sigur Rós ( )

Sigur Rós “Track 3: Samskeyti” [MP3] (15 MB)
from the 2002 record "( ) "

A big thanks goes out to my friend Mark who inspired me to post this track. He got a Sigur Ros tattoo this week, and it reminded me of how good this band is. Although I love their music, sometimes I feel like I have to be in a certain mood to enjoy it. If I ever get married, this is the song I want to walk down the aisle to. Cute, huh?

Song Lyrics for “Track 3: Samskeyti”

There are no lyrics for this instrumental track...

Sigur RósAll of the vocals on the album ( ) are in 'Hopelandic'. Hopelandic (vonlenska in Icelandic) is the 'invented language' lead singer Jónsi Birgisson sings before lyrics are written to the vocals. It's not an actual language by definition (no vocab, grammar, etc.), it's rather a form of gibberish vocals that fits to the music and acts as another instrument.

Week 3: February 5, 2006

The Ren: A girl who knows her music. CKY, Dave Navarro, Minus The Bear, and many more to come!

Welcome back to the NEW song of the week! Don’t forget, a new song is posted EVERY Sunday!

This week features a song by Radiohead.

Radiohead - Kid A

Radiohead “Idioteque” [MP3] (11.8 MB)
from the 2000 record "Kid A"

I’m pretty sure this band needs no introduction. You either love them or you hate them. This is one of the most all-around amazing bands. This song is by far one of their most excellent. You know a song is truly amazing when it makes you feel a certain way each time you listen to it. The many feelings it gives me is basically an endless list. Thanks to a bunch of moshers back in the day, this band will never tour in Michigan again. Road trip to Ohio, anyone?

Song Lyrics for “Idioteque”

Who's in bunker, who's in bunker?
Women and children first
Women and children first
Women and children
I'll laugh until my head comes off
I swallow till I burst
Until I burst
Until I ...

Who's in bunker, who's in bunkerRadiohead
I've seen too much
I haven't seen enough
You haven't seen enough
I'll laugh until my head comes off
Women and children first
And children first
And children..

Here I'm allowed, everything all of the time
Here I'm allowed, everything all of the time

Ice age coming, ice age coming
Let me hear both sides
Let me hear both sides
Let me hear both..

Ice age coming, ice age coming
Throw me in the fire
Throw me in the fire
Throw me in the..

We're not scaremongering
This is really happening, happening
We're not scaremongering
This is really happening, happening

Mobiles working
Mobiles chirping
Take the money and run
Take the money and run
Take the money..

Here I'm allowed, everything all of the time
